Autodesk Combustion Video Editing Software Free Download
autodesk has released a new video editing product called combustion. in this lesson, dwayne ferguson will walk you through a complete workflow using the new product. combustion is an amazing tool that allows you to create and edit your own video effects in a non-destructive environment.
i have taught with combustion (university), but am now purchasing 68 seats of toxik 2008. i agree with peter: toxik does indeed seem vastly superior to combustion. i applaud autodesk for its willingness to make toxic accessable to educational institutions like mine. hopefully the userbase will expand as students take their toxik smarts into the workplace. i should also mention that it runs better on even a simple gaming pc than combustion ever did. now, if only autodesk could update their tutorials to 2008, from 2007
in the combustion 4 digital art course, dwayne ferguson offers a comprehensive step-by-step, tutorial-based course that will take your artistic skills to the next level and allow you to express your creative vision. this course is highly recommended for professionals who are new to autodesk combustion.
this rigorous and intensive computer animation course builds upon animation i & ii. the course is designed for the serious 3-d animation student who is expecting to continue working in animation. it continues the approach of increasing skills and artistic practice in all areas of 3-d animation: concept, modeling, animation, and rendering. this is not just a software training course. while understanding advanced software tools will be necessary to attain the objectives of this course, grade evaluation is based on the students development and successful demonstrations of mastery of timing, visual design, and storytelling abilities. throughout the class, students will be encouraged to find their own artistic voice. does not fulfill general humanities requirements; may be taken as a free elective.
you can download a free trial here. i am interested to see how this plays out for them. we’ve all had instances where we thought the software was the bee’s knees and then we learn that it was always going to be a buggy buggy buggy release like the shareware version of photoshop. i guess everyone is a little nervous right now. it’s not like theyve said “over to you guys” when they hand the reigns over to you guys.
students will make a short animation using the software. students will need at least 5-6gb of space on the computer, as well as a usb hard drive that is approximately 5gb. note: the usb hard drive must be seperate from the computer, do not put the hard drive on the computer. (it will be a hard drive) in addition you will need roughly 15 minutes of editing time. the entire course will be done in autodesk combustion 8.0 you will not need any specialized editing knowledge to be able to complete this class and you can walk into any editing software and do it. however, it will be very beneficial to have some experience with an editing software. a basic knowledge of various editing software will be beneficial to the final project. you can use adobe after effects, nuke, and maya. remember, i will not be teaching anyone to use any sort of 3d application, i am only teaching people to edit images with 2d applications. but you are free to use a 3d application for your final project if you wish to. if you want to see some great examples of what can be done with 3d, take a look at www.autodesk.com/products/combustion/public/index.html check it out and you will see some spectacular 3d elements in the final project.
