if the summer taught us anything, it is that the call of duty league can be a force to be reckoned with. optic texas stormed through the regular season with a dominating offense and skilled defense, setting up an explosive finals matchup between the top two teams. in a game that perfectly encapsulated the call of duty league experience, atlanta faze found themselves trying to cope with the potent offense of optic texas. optic texas won the game and their first-ever major i championships with a resounding 5-2 scoreline.
the second day of optic texas’s journey to the call of duty league was more of the same, as the team knocked off paradigm and the ruckus to reach the grand finals. there, after blowing apart all three of their opponents in convincing fashion, optic texas faced off against atlanta faze, who made the long journey up from the pacific championship for the chance to join the league. the new league champions had a good fight, but optic texas was too good. in the last round, optic texas outplayed faze’s offense, using a barrage of well-placed x-shot down the middle to take the match.
the dominant performance of optic texas earned them a spot on the call of duty league stage, along with serious bragging rights and a strong following. the super finals will take place at the official call of duty league twitch stream on august 30th – the same day optic texas will face off against european champions ggb for the inaugural call of duty challengers championship. congratulations to optic texas on a tournament well-earned!

thinking about something besides the game is, to some, a sign of a lost connection. the aim of call of duty: black ops 3 is to recapture that feeling of being overwhelmed and euphoric by the controlled chaos of an action-packed multiplayer game. trying to keep to the schedule is a welcome rush, and something players can look forward to. it’s certainly a much welcomed change from previous call of duty: black ops titles.
it’s also one that signifies the game’s ambitious stance toward live service. that’s without a doubt a lot of work on the game’s designers’ parts, and it shows in the game’s design. the game’s developers had a lot to accomplish in order to get the game to the state it is in right now, and it seems to have worked well. the biggest problem it has with the game is the maps, and, indeed, the community.
